The concept

“Stylish Women & Those Who Love Them” is the heading for a stylish variety of customized explorations of Paris’s historic and contemporary chic, style, design, fashion, luxury, high craftsmanship, and more, including Paris shopping tours.

Where there are fine boutiques other elements of luxury lifestyle follow, so these tours may include a visit to a temple of high pastries, an exquisite cocktail bar or an exclusive wine/champagne tasting.

I’ve created such tours for couples, families, mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, aunts and nieces, grandmothers and granddaughters, groups of friends, and others. Beyond the “History of Shopping Tour” described below, I’d like to hear about your interests and sense of style and the age of any young travelers in your party so as to best design the tours and encounters that fit your Made in France dream.

I have no pretension of being a fashion maven or women’s wear connoisseur myself. Therefore, these highly personalized tours may in part be conducted by one of my fashion or shopping partners. How about I hire a professional photographer for your own Paris photo-shoot for an hour or two? And/Or also attending a private or group perfume workshop?

For travelers with specific shopping needs or quests it’s important to know in advance the nature of their interests, for example a prom dress, a mother-of-the-bride dress, a handbag, lingerie, a work of high craft or of art, vintage clothing, etc. I can then hook you up with the appropriate French fashion or Paris shopping tour partner. Neither I nor they recommend boutiques, designers or craftsmen based on commission but on our sense of your interests, needs and whims.

The History of Shopping: A Taste of Right Bank Luxury, Fashion, and Guiltless Pastries

The essential introduction to boutiquing if Paris.
A relaxed yet classy 3-3½ walking tour

Just as curious travelers want to know about Gothic architecture when visiting Notre-Dame or about Impressionism when visiting the Orsay Museum, this classy 3-3½-hour walking tour is the essential introduction to boutiquing of Paris. Think of it as a warm-up exercise before any further shopping on your own or with one of my associate fashion and shopping experts.

You’ll be led through the sights, tastes and history of Right Bank luxury shopping in Paris over the past 250 years. Starting near the Louvre, this leisurely Right Bank walk will reveal how the private spending sprees of 18th-century aristocracy became the public shopping of the 19th-century bourgeoisie, and you’ll discover the transformation from 20th-century couture and haute couture to luxury boutique-hopping in Paris today. Along the way you’ll see some of the important sights associated with well-heeled aristocracy: Palais Royal, Place Vendome, the Garnier Opera (outside), and others.

And where there is fine shopping other elements of luxury lifestyle follow. So in keeping with the theme of (over)indulgence, this tour includes:

  • For morning and early afternoon starts: a refined coffee or tea-time stop, the opportunity to enjoy guiltless pastries or chocolates while learning the history of coffee, tea, chocolate or pastries in Paris.
  • For starts from 3PM on: an exquisite wine or cocktail break in keeping with the tour’s atmosphere.

This tour can be adapted to all ages, including multi-generational touring for princes and princesses young and less young.

This is not a shopping tour, though it will give plenty of ideas and window view to travelers. Customized boutiquing and fashion hunting with one my fashion or shopping partners is possible as an add-on or part of a full-day tour. While I typically conduct the historical and tasting portions of this tour on my own, one of those partners may take over for all or part of the shopping portion in view of your particular interests.

  • Cost & Conditions

The 3-3½ hour tour described above: 420€ for two + 40€ per additional person 16 and older, 25€ per person under 16.

To make for a truly stylish day, opt for a full-day Spoil Someone You Love Tour on theme of shopping, fragrance and fine living. In that case, I’ll plan a variety of lifestyle experiences, including the ideal lunch and teatime touring break and an exquisite setting for “wining” down at the end of the day. Send information about your specific interests and sense of style so that I can respond with tour ideas and cost information. Also note if you’re looking for specific purchases, e.g. prom dress, mother-of-the-bride dress, the perfect bag, vintage chic, a high craft tea pot, whatever the stylish woman or women in your life, and you yourself, crave.
