Writing about and touring France for these many years and having great contacts throughout the country, I’m in a unique position to provide extensive advice for travels in every direction. On rare occasions I will accompany travelers outside of Paris for several days or more. I do so mostly with clients that have previously toured with me in Paris or have been referred to me, but am happy to consider all requests.

Some clients contact me with a specific region in mind, while others ask for my help in deciding which region or regions to explore. Some wish to emphasize a specific angle (cultural, culinary, sporting, wine, war, architecture, gardens, etc.) while many seek combine several main interests for their France tours. Some like tightly scheduled sightseeing, while others prefer laid-back explorations.

In all cases I design highly personalized travels according to clients’ interests, needs and sense of travel pleasure. My accompaniment further allows for possibility to adapt the itinerary from day to day according to the weather and your mood, appetite and evolving interests.

A few examples

Over the years I’ve:

  • Led private biking trips in the Loire Valley,
  • Accompanied travelers on culinary and cultural discoveries in Provence,
  • Accompanied travelers based in a beautiful villa in Dordogne on an easy-going discovery tour of the region.
  • Accompanied an extended family of 14 for a wonderfully varied week in Provence and along the Riviera.
  • Organized an exclusive wine tasting in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, a private dinner in a rented villa with a stellar chef, encounters with the owners of private castles and sublime gardens.
  • And much more.

Other unique France tours to consider:

  • A sporting tour of the French Riviera: water skiing, biking, running, perhaps even skiing all in the same week, along with other luxurious experiences that the region has to offer.
  • A tour of northern breweries for a friendly group of beer aficionados.
  • A tour of American WWI sights in northeast France while enjoying the pleasures and treasures of lesser-visited regions.
  • Painterly discoveries in the footsteps of Impressionists and Post-Impressionists.

Cost

Costs vary greatly depending on the organization and touring time for such France tours.

I hire specialized guides when necessary, for example a tour of a museum or castle or special aspect of a town or city.

For hotels, villa rentals and transportation, I serve as the adviser and may pre-book a reservation, but I am not a travel agent. I therefore do not serve as the financial intermediary for such reservation contracts. For large travel parties (particularly when several payers are involved), I recommend working with a travel agent for lodging and transportation. If your own travel agent isn’t highly knowledgeable about France then I can put you in contact with one of my preferred agents.

Travel agents may also contact me about helping organize uniquely personalized tours for their preferred clients.
